The design brief was to build a minimal glass extension to a house in the Wimbledon Common Conservation Area.

VSA submitted designs to the local authority (Merton Council), initially in the form of a pre-application submission. Following discussions with the planning officer, we submitted a full planning application, for which permission was granted. The pre-application dialogue helped to ensure an approval, particularly as the project could be seen as an extension to an extension, which is normally highly contested.
